At this time of year shorebird diversity can be very high if the conditions are good. The island is also productive for terns, egrets, herons, and other large waterbirds. Early songbird migrants can also be expected if the conditions are right.

Participants will travel to the island by boat, which will leave the land base at 21548 Chicken Point Rd, Tilghman, MD 21671 by 9 a.m. Please arrive by 8:30 a.m. and park at the land base address. The boat ride is approximately 50 minutes round trip. Once on Poplar Island, participants will board a bus and ride to various birding stops. There will be limited walking. There is one stop for the restroom. We expect to return to the land base at around 1 p.m.

Bring water and snacks, sun screen, bug spray, and a hat or cap. Please bring a scope if you have one.

Limit: 22 participants.
