Call for action! If you’ve ever birded at Riley’s Lock along the C and O Canal, you probably noticed huge deciduous trees being choked by English Ivy, threatening their survival and use by birds. Here’s your chance to do something about it, as the C and O Canal Trust will sponsor and lead an invasives removal event (also including trash removal) from 10 am. to 12 pm. on February 7, 2026.

Other invasive species to be targeted include Japanese Honeysuckle and Wintercreeper. All ages are welcome, but parents must remain on-site to supervise their children.Tools will be provided by the C and O Canal Trust.

You can find more information and register here: https://www.canaltrust.org/rileys-lock-invasive-species-removal-event/. Please note that each person planning to volunteer must register individually.
